The Foundation of a Healthy World

God is our Mighty Creator but He reaches to connect with us as a Loving Father. This fact is fundamental to our understanding of family. He is a God of relationship.

As a Loving Father, He provides boundaries and expectations of how we behave and interact which reflect His character.  Relationship with Him is built on our dedicated love and obedience to His commands. By God’s design, families are the building blocks of healthy societies.

When our families exhibit Biblical moral, spiritual and emotional health, we show the world a much-needed model of peacemaking, kindness and hope. Our strong families can shine as beacons of courage and faith to others.

What is a Family?

God as Creator, has the authority to define family, as well as to teach and empower us to create healthy ones. The description of the creation and union of Adam and Eve in Genesis is the introduction to God’s principles of marriage.

Jesus also clearly reiterates the godly design when he states,

“A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.”
— Matthew 19:5

We are given specific directions about how to treat one another as husbands and wives.  God describes children as His “heritage” and “blessing,” while He equips us with tools to nurture them in faith and righteousness. Through His Word we find the wisdom to build, nurture and sustain strong, faith-filled family units. Through His grace He hears our prayers for direction and helps us as we navigate the relationships and issues involved in a God-centered family.

Instilling Godly Values

In our fast-paced, technology-dominated world committing to instilling God’s values in both ourselves and our children is challenging but rewarding. It takes unswerving dedication and commitment to maintain a godly home, grounded in God’s Word. By learning and practicing Biblical wisdom we cultivate an environment that honors, cherishes and promotes strong relationships.

Ideally, our families learn to face sin and trials with discernment, determination and a growth mindset.  Strong families remain open to new lessons in respect, forgiveness, and compassion, based on the example of God and His son, Jesus.
