Current societal accepted teachings have drastically changed in the past one hundred years on both sexual mores in general and concerning homosexuality specifically.

Today society teaches that same-sex attraction is inherent and unchangeable, and defines who you are, that is, your identity. Any unacceptance of this teaching is considered homophobic, judgmental, and in some places illegal. This teaching is in opposition to thousands of years of Christian and other religious understanding and teachings and it eliminates any possibility of change or transformation.

Society teaches that homosexual behaviors are not sinful. Bible teaching has always been consistent that God created us as sexual beings with intimate sexual relationships to be only between one man and one woman, husband and wife. Any other sexual attraction is not to be acted on and not to be encouraged. Homosexual behavior is not within the purpose of our creator and is harmful to our bodies which belong to the Lord. 

There is no question that there are some who have found themselves with same-sex attraction.  Something they did not ask for and feel powerless to change. 

Sexual attraction itself is a strong and powerful force that is hard to ignore. 

Add to this the opposing stances concerning homosexual behavior between current culture and time-honored understanding of Biblical teaching and anyone facing these issues deals with frustration, confusion, and anger.
